Chow Kit – An Ormond Hotel

Last stayed in October 2021

Type of room stayed in: The Den

Value – 5/5 (also due to the Stay & Dine promo that they ran). Without that, it is 4/5.
Cleanliness – 4/5
Ambiance – 4/5 (this would be higher if only our room came with a window overlooking the street but they ran out of such room during our stay)
Staff services – 4.5/5

Location – Within walking distance to Quill City Mall and Heritage Row which you can find good F&B outlets (do try out Joloko, Caribbean cuisine about 20 mins walk from the hotel). Nearby, there is monorail station (with covered walkway).

Lobby – All great hotels have their signature smell and they do. I cannot determine what smell it is but it is definitely a very nice floral smell. The reception area is smallish but suffice to handle the flow. It also has a waiting area at the end of the hall with The Chow Kit Bar and Kitchen on the left.

Check in / Check out process – They were very busy on the day that I arrived but the receptionist was very calm and handle it very patiently and well.

Staff – They have great hospitality overall.

The staff at Chow Kit Kitchen and Bar were also very friendly and definitely know the menu well who can recommend to you on the food, the cocktail and the good proportion.

Then, I remembered that we were locked out from our room due to late checkout and our keycard wasn’t working. Then a lady (whom we didn’t know was in the housekeeping department) who saw us in frustration mode came to offer her help.

The room – I guess I would describe the room as having a very Asian feel to it (except the bathroom, very modern looking). It has comfy bed and pillow coupled with the dimmable light which is a nice touch as you can adjust the room ambiance to your liking. It has an open clothes rack attached with the amenities table (a nice looking workable design).

But the room that I get has window that look at the next building wall and it is very near to us. It does make it feel a bit claustrophobic.

Generally, the room is clean and well maintained.

Hotel parking – they do have their own parking but I do feel it is very limited. By the time I arrived, we took the last spot already.

Hotel F&B – The Chow Kit Kitchen and Bar serve great food with great cocktail. And as mentioned, very importantly, they have very nice, cheerful and approachable staff.
